Food company bets on corporate sales growth due to year-end holidays for boosting digital channels
Bauducco, one of the most traditional food companies in Brazil and one of the largest panettone manufacturers in the world, has almost 70 years of history and tradition. Currently, the brand is the market leader in the baked goods industry with products such as the traditional panettone, cookies, toasts, cakes and wafers. They have been a VTEX client with their B2C ecommerce operation since 2017. The chain bet on the platform for their first B2B sales digital channel in 2020.
The modernization of Bauducco’s digital channels through VTEX for the stores aimed at B2C and B2B audiences came just in time to ensure a 300% growth in Easter sales this year, an important shopping period for the brand. In view of this significant result, Bauducco identified the potential of digital channels and began to invest in strategies to ensure that ecommerce channel sales remain representative overall, not only in seasonal periods.
In this sense, the company highlights the importance of the VTEX ecosystem to find the right partners to power the digitalization process, in addition to the flexible and scalable architecture of the platform.
“VTEX has a plethora of APIs, integrations and partners, which makes accomplishing different strategies very simple. The VTEX ecosystem provides us with a lot of opportunities to develop digitally.”
Rodrigo Matheus, Head of Ecommerce at Bauducco
With little over a year using the VTEX B2B platform, Bauducco already reports having around 35% of its ecommerce sales coming from businesses. The company’s B2B audience has a market particularity: sales to businesses focus on final consumption and not on resale. It is what the food chain calls the corporate sales industry, and it is exactly in this industry that Bauducco seeks to play a leading role since products such as panettone are bought in large quantities by companies for activities with employees, customers and partners.
“B2B is a very important business channel for Bauducco. Our products are the favorite Christmas gifts of companies from a wide variety of industries.”
Rodrigo Matheus, Head of Ecommerce at Bauducco
With highly customizable solutions, VTEX has been meeting the specific business needs of Bauducco’s B2C and B2B audiences. Says Carlos Lima, Solution Engineer at VTEX.
“Our platform has two major differentiators: the amount of pre-existing features and, at the same time, the scalability that only a solution built for the cloud (cloud native) allows. Everything VTEX clients need to go live as quickly as possible and, after launch, to grow and sell more and better.”
Carlos Lima, Solution Engineer at VTEX
With the most important date in Bauducco’s annual calendar approaching, the company has already begun to plan and structure actions aimed at expanding digital Christmas sales by 40%. Among the measures designed for the consumers of Bauducco’s B2C and B2B stores is a partnership with Pier 8, which will guarantee improvements in the logistics operation throughout Brazil this Christmas.
It is precisely for enabling actions during ecommerce access peaks that a secure and stable platform is so essential. However, Bauducco emphasizes that the relevance of the partnership with VTEX transcends the technological arena.
“We are in the midst of a process for modernizing channels and expanding ecommerce. More than a platform, in VTEX, we found a business partner that has the expertise to leverage our digitalization with the best practices of the market.”
