VTEX platform now available in Bulgarian

Following our goal of authoring the future of commerce around the globe, the VTEX platform is now available in Bulgarian. This announcement marks the tenth language available in the VTEX admin, alongside Portuguese, English, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Dutch, French, Korean and Romanian.

VTEX clients will be able to switch to the newly launched platform language in October 2021. This is the second language, besides Romanian, enabled in the platform to support the Eastern European market.

Strongly established in Brazil and Latin America and rapidly expanding in the US and European markets, VTEX is committed to taking the future of ecommerce wherever retailers are and being prepared to meet the particular needs of each market.

With over 2,500 active stores worldwide, VTEX wants to ensure that all our clients have the tools they need to achieve their goals, and that involves quickly adapting our platform.

Alleop, one of the fastest-growing ecommerce websites in Central and Eastern Europe with more than half a million customers, is one of the clients who are using the new admin version in Bulgarian to continue growing their business plans further.

Localization challenges

VTEX is expanding rapidly and continues to break language and technical barriers to consistently support local markets, but that requires overcoming major challenges. As with the addition of Korean to the platform, our team encountered some obstacles in implementing this new language, such as sentence structure.

Although they are languages with different bases (Korean from the Korean language family and Bulgarian from the Slavic language family), both required translation adaptations distinct from the Latin-based languages that currently make up the majority of active languages in the platform. These details are very important and require a high level of orchestration between our Product and Localization teams to deliver the highest quality language implementation.

Offering the platform in the client’s native language is an important objective, and it requires a thorough mapping to capture details of all the modules of the platform. For Vladimir Montanu, Head of Localization at VTEX, “offering a well-localized platform user experience is one of the key aspects to maintain a close relationship with customers and convey our genuine dedication to supporting local markets with the attention and care required.”

Expansion in Eastern Europe

The expansion to the Eastern European market was a wise decision by VTEX, with names like Timberland, Napapijri and StrimCo in the customer base that use the platform and started to benefit from our technology.

According to Cristi Movila, Eastern Europe General Manager at VTEX, the plans for the coming years are to grow in the region. “We believe in the huge potential of digital commerce in Eastern Europe and the ability of our product to adapt to local needs. Our role is to facilitate this development and add value both for our customers and the ecommerce ecosystem,” he said.
